Where to rent in Malta & Gozo
In order to choose the right location for your Malta holiday rental, you should first ask yourself a few questions:
- Will you be renting a car or traveling by public transport?
- How much time will you spend within your accommodation?
- What facilities do you require?
- What is the upper and lower limit of your budget?
Once you have answered these basic questions, you are in an excellent position to start looking for your holiday rental in Malta.
If you need to rely on Malta's public transport, try to choose a location well served by the bus system. However, if you have access to a car you will be able to broaden your search to more out-of-reach areas. Keep in mind that Malta is a very small country - so really, nowhere is inaccessible. However, the summer months in Malta are often very hot, making a long walk home rather uncomfortable. Maltese traffic is notorious to foreign residents, as the Maltese drivers often ignore the rules of common courtesy.
If you will be spending a lot of time in your holiday accommodation, go for a property with a private or communal pool in the summer months. In winter time, the sun goes down around 5pm, so evening entertainment such as a television is essential.
Those interested in outdoor activities will find many things to do in Gozo. From hiking and exploring nature trails to diving and off-road excursions, Gozo is full of exciting things to do.

what to know about renting in Malta
A security deposit is required by landlords. The amount required will vary, although it can sometimes be negotiable, and is refunded at the end of the lease as long as the property is found to be in the same condition as at the beginning of the lease, save for fair wear & tear and any utility bills. Your lease agreement will contain all the terms that both lessor and lessee have agreed to - make sure to read it thoroughly and keep a copy on hand.
