Birkirkara is a bustling town in the heart of Malta with a rich history dating back centuries. Unlike many other towns on the island, Birkirkara has managed to retain its small-town feel even as it has grown and modernized over the years. The historic center of town is separated from the newer residential area by a small garden, which is itself a charming oasis with alleyways, narrow streets, and buildings that wouldn't look out of place in a traditional rural village. It's this unique mix of old and new that makes Birkirkara such an appealing place to live for both locals and newcomers alike.

In recent years, Birkirkara has also become known for its thriving nightlife scene with a number of popular bars and clubs located within its limits. Consequently, it has become a popular choice for young professionals and students who are looking for an exciting place to live. But one of the best things about living in Birkarka is the great selection of property for rent. Most residents prefer long-term rentals in Birkirkara, due to the town's charm and convenience. Whether you're looking for an apartment or a villa, you can find something that suits your needs.

History

Birkirkara has a long history, with evidence of human settlement dating back to the Bronze Age. The town is situated in a valley, which is most likely where it gets its name from. Birkirkara translates to 'cold water” or 'running water”, an attribute to the town's location.

This area was an important commercial and residential area during the Roman period, and many of the historical landmarks from this era are still visible today. The town has played a number of important roles in the island's history, but perhaps its most significant period was during the Second World War. When Malta was under constant attack from the air, Birkirkara became known as the emergency capital, and many of the government's administrative buildings and cultural treasures were moved here for safekeeping.

In more recent times, Birkirkara has remained an important commercial and residential area, with a variety of shopping facilities, restaurants, and bars, as well as a number of schools and churches. If you're looking for property to let in Birkirkara, you won't be disappointed by the town's charm and convenience.
