Regatta Club Sponsorship

The Regatta is a highly anticipated part of the national calendar, as enthusiasts look forward to the traditional rowing event that takes place twice a year. The regatta has been held in Malta for hundreds of years, however, the first professional rowing challenge started quite recently, in 1955.

The Regatta races are held on Freedom Day (31st March), and Victory Day (8th September). The rowing teams that compete for the win are formed from the areas surrounding the Grand Harbour: Cospicua, Kalkara, Marsa, Marsamxett, Senglea, Vittoriosa, and Birzebbugia. The teams participate in 10 races using traditional Maltese boats.

In 2019, Dhalia became sponsor of the Club Regatta Bormla. The same year, the team took home the win in both National Regattas, becoming the champions of 2019!

As proud sponsors of the Bormla Regatta Club, Dhalia was honoured to have a boat named after the company participate in the event. The vessel, a small open boat known in Maltese as a ‘frejgatina‘, was built for the event in the traditional manner.
